Three per level, star coins are a collectible item present in most Mario games. Any player looking towards completing the game 100% would be on the hunt for these. There are 27 in total in Frosted Glacier, each requiring different things to obtain them. Some are up in the sky, some are in hidden areas.
Spinning Star Sky
The first coin to collect is right in the air, past the first section to have two spinning stars to traverse. Obtaining it requires flying up with the Tanooki suit that can be obtained at the first spinning star, jumping on the Paratroopa in front of it, or jumping off of the blocks ahead.
This section requires hitting the block under this path. Running off the edge ahead and swooping in with the Tanooki suit makes it possible to access the block.
The block will produce a beanstalk in which you can pass through the orange brick path and climb up.
From there, traverse the three star platforms until reaching the second star coin. Alternatively, the coin can be collectible by heading inside the platform the star coin is on with a secret path directly through the middle, onto the ledge on the bottom, and hopping up.
The third coin requires going to this hidden platform, over the first pit of Munchers. A Tanooki suit will be needed to make it inside the area. Then, hit the block to get a power star.
Run over the second pit of Munchers with the power star activated right into the next platform. Inside there is the last star coin of Spinning Star Sky.

Cooligan Fields
The first coin is located under these bricks near the start of the level. The coin is in plain sight, and easily accessible.
The second is between these two pipes. Breaking a break under them and hopping inside, there's another block inside the area in the middle that can be hit to help wall jump against the pipes and collect the star coin.
The next coin can either be accessed with a Tanooki suit or by traversing the bricks and platforms around it. It's easily accessible and easy to find.
Freezing-Rain Tower
A mini-boss level, the platforms twist and turn, and the direction to go are uphill. The first star coin is up this platform that will move up and down on its axis.
The next is on the section with a moving platform. The platform will move upwards with walls creating twists and turns. This coin is able to be seen without any secret paths. Hop onto the path, past the Dry Bones, and collect the coin.
This coin is located on a secret path. Jump up to collect the final coin of Freezing Rain.
Prickly Goombas!
Entering this pipe located near the start of the section will take you to a room with the first star coin.
There are three secret bricks in this room that can be used to jump and collect the coin.
Yoshi is required to access this pipe. Jumping up onto the bricks and floating with Yoshi over to the platform will help you get to the pipe.
Yoshi can step on the spike-covered balls that lay on the ground. Using the flutter ability, collecting the coin is possible. Another way is to have some sort of power up on your character before running toward it. The spiked balls will hurt only take your power up if you're fast enough.
A bit forward from where you exit, there's a patch of sideways coins with a star coin at the top. This can be reached with Yoshi's flutter ability, jumping on another player's head for an extra boost, or using a Tanooki suit.

Scaling The Mountainside
This coin is located in the first section with moving platforms. Flying with the Tanooki suit will help to collect this coin. As another option, jumping on another player's head while the platform is raised can also be done.
The second coin is above this pit of bullet bills. Using the Tanooki suit is required to grab this coin.
The last coin of this level is located in a secret path. Hopping up from the three secret blocks or the platforms ahead with a Tanooki suit will give access to the coin inside.
Icicle Caverns
This coin will require being fast, as when you pass under the icicle, it will fall and block the path. It's inside a secret path, so you'll be required to run into the seemingly, ice wall.
Going into this pipe either by using a Tanooki or jumping on another player's head will lead you to the next star coin.
In this room, get the icicles to fall and jump on one, onto the middle platform. From there just jump up to get the star coin.
Located at the end of the level, enter this pipe. Alternatively, there's another pipe going fast enough and able to pass by the icicle before it falls.
If you choose the first pipe, the one accessed when the icicle falls, a friend will be required to get to the top platform with at least one player having a power-up or mushroom. The pipe that requires rushing past the icicles will land you at the top platform itself.

Swaying Ghost House
The first star coin is located right at the beginning of the level. This level will side scroll, leaving not much time to get coins and explore. Walk through the middle block above the coin to fall through and collect it.
Located in the area with the brick blocks, press the P button at the beginning to start. Traversing to the end, hop onto the blocks that move with you until the end of the area and hop onto them. Another way is to have another player jump off of you and wall jump.
Pressing the P button in this section will create a block platform. Break and jump through the blocks to reach the platform. The platform will rise with various obstacles on the way up. Avoid the first door and go all the way up to the top. At the very top, jump through the ceiling to find a door.
Similar to the second star coin, this coin is down another side-scrolling section. Wall jumping at the end and collecting the coin at the top is required.
Fliprus Lake
The first is located above this moving platform. Stepping on it and hopping up while it's at it's peak will allow you to reach the star coin.
Going to this rising yellow snowy platform on its peak and hopping onto this small brick platform will lead to this pipe.
Going through here, avoiding the snowballs thrown will allow access to the star coin at the bottom.
Hopping onto this rising box reveals a large wall. Going straight for it, there's a path there. There's a star coin in the path.
Wendy's Shifting Castle
Right before the first checkpoint, the small Thwomp is hiding a star coin under it. Triggering the Thwomp to fall will show the star coin. Jump up and collect the coin before the Thwomp rises back up.
Jumping onto this brick and jumping once again reveals a hidden block. Get onto the hidden block then jump directly up, and you will go into a pipe located offscreen.
Going through the room, the mini Thwomps will launch back and forth. At the end is the star coin.
These platforms will move up and down. Once it moves down, falling down will reveal a pipe. Go into that pipe to access the room with the last star coin.
This room features platforms that constantly go up or down. Traverse the platforms and get the Thwomp to go down, revealing a coin where it previously was. This is the last star coin of Frosted Glacier.
